C1 - Introduction To Leadership

This document discusses the evolution of leadership definitions from 1900 to the 21st century. It notes that leadership was initially viewed as domination in the early 1900s but shifted to focus on traits in the 1930s and the relationship between leaders and groups in the 1940s-1950s. It highlights Burns's 1978 definition of leadership as a reciprocal process of realizing mutual goals through mobilizing resources. The document also outlines ways leadership has been conceptualized and defines it as a process where an individual influences a group to achieve common goals through a transactional relationship involving influence over followers who share a mutual purpose.
