DIVISION 2:

SMOKING
SECTION 10.5.2.1 DESIGNATED AND
PROHIBITED SMOKING AREAS
A. City/Municipal Fire Marshal
• “NO SMOKING” signages
• Areas where combustible materials are
stored
• Unlawful during that period of the year
– Tobacco, cigarette, pipe or cigar
• Flammable areas

A. Signages of “NO SMOKING”
• Readable and recognizable
• Min. distance of 15.25 meters
• At least 10 centimeters in height

C. Signages of “SMOKING AREA” shall
be different color from the “NO

the manufacturing, sale, servicing and maintenance of
fire extinguishers.

A. Standards
1) All locally manufactured fire
extinguishers shall be classified, tested
and rated in accordance with the
Philippine National Standards (PNS)
No. 27: 1984, Rules for Classification, Fire
Testing and Rating of Portable FE

2) Extinguishers made and imported from other countries shall
be considered acceptable when it is in accordance with
International Organization for Standardization (ISO) norms.

• National Fire protection Association (NFPA)
• Underwriter Laboratory, Incorporated (UL)
• Factory Manual, Incorporated (FM)
• American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
• Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPC or LPCB)
• European Committee for Standardization (CE or CEN)
• Australia Standards Association (ASA)
• Japan Industrial Standard Committee (JIS or JISC)
• Korea Fire Industry Technology Institute (KFI)

C. Tagging of Serviced Fire Extinguishers
A person qualified by the DTI services a fire extinguisher,
the contents of the tag should at least indicate:
– Month and year the services are performed
– Chemical name and formula of contents
– Type of extinguisher serviced
– Name, address, contact details
– Certificate of registration number of the servicing
firm
SECTION 10.5.3.3 SERVICING AND MAINTENANCE

A. Maintenance and servicing


– Performed periodically
• Every twelve (12) months
B. Hydrostatic test
– Every five (5) years
