The Cavite Mutiny of 1872 was an uprising of around 200 soldiers and laborers in Cavite who believed it would spark a national uprising against Spanish rule. However, the mutiny failed and many participants were executed. This event, along with the execution of Fathers Gomez, Burgos, and Zamora by garrote in February 1872, had two perspectives according to Spanish and Filipino accounts. Spanish accounts portrayed it as an attempt to overthrow the government, while Filipino accounts viewed it as a mutiny due to dissatisfaction with leadership. The executions unintentionally paved the way for the Philippine Revolution of 1898.

 Unintentionally, it resulted in the martyrdom of


GOMBURZA and paved way to the revolution
culminating in 1898
