Step 2: Compare the decimal in the tenths, it is still the same. The digits in
the hundredths place are different. Since 5 > 4, then 141.65 > 141.64. Which is greater

Discussion. Arranging Decimals


Arranging decimal numbers in ascending order means arranging the decimal
numbers from least to greatest.

Example: Arrange 0.31, 7.74, 9.53, 5.56 in ascending order. Try this!
 Step 1: Compare the whole numbers
0.31, 7.74, 9.53, 5.56
 Step 2: Arrange the numbers depending on the given order. Arrange the following decimals
0.31, 5.56, 7.74, 9.53 based on the given order.

Arranging decimal numbers in descending order means arranging the decimal 1. Ascending order
numbers from greatest to least.

Example: Arrange 7.65, 7.002, 7.8, 7.03 in descending order.
 Step 1: Compare the whole numbers 2. Descending order
7.65, 7.002, 7.8, 7.03 77.1 7.171 71.090 7.5
 Step 2: Compare the tenths digit
7.65, 7.002, 7.8, 7.03
 Step 3: Arrange the numbers
Since 7.002 and 7.03 have the same tenths digit, compare the hundredths
digit
7.8, 7.65, 7.03, 7.002
