Course Objectives:
•The course aims that the students understand the behavioural patterns of
Human beings at individual and group levels.
•This course aims at introducing the students to many of the basic
principles of human behaviour that effective managers apply when
managing individuals and groups in organizations.
•The students will understand the theories of management and behaviour
of people in modern organizations as per Industry 4.0.
•The students will be able to apply knowledge and skills in leadership,
power, communication, negotiation, change management and conflict
management for handling the challenges of the modern industry
characterized by change and technological innovations.

Prerequisites:
•Introduction to basic business terminology or knowledge of business
studies and some understanding of the organizational environment is
required.

Course Learning Outcomes:


By the end of the course, students will be able to

•Demonstrate and summarize the key concepts and ways to analyse factors
relating to individuals, groups and organizations.

•Identify and distinguish between different types of learning, personality


and motivational theories.

•Understand the process of group formation and justify the role


organizational behaviour in Business settings.

•Understand and grasp the dynamics of groups and team building besides
developing a better awareness of how they can be better facilitators for
building effective teams as leaders themselves.

•Develop theoretical and practical insights and problem-solving


capabilities for effectively managing the organisational change.

Pedagogy for Course Delivery:

•The class will be taught using theory and case based method. A series of
lectures will impart information and be complemented by interactive tutor-
led and student-led discussion. Formative tasks, case discussions and
presentations will enable students to build towards the completion of their
assignment during the delivery of the unit.

• A minimum of 40 lectures will be scheduled in the semester. Sessions


for self-work discussion, progression, and its evaluation will also be
scheduled periodically.

•Each student is required to do the back ground reading from the specified
material before coming to class.

List of Professional Skill Development Activities


(PSDA):
Project 1-In groups of 3-4, conduct a survey in an organization of
your choice to find out about the personality profiles of the three
levels of management. Do you find any differences? Why? Prepare
a report and present in the class.

Project 2- In groups of 3-4, conduct a survey of an organization to


find out the political strategies used by managers to influence the
behaviour of their subordinates. What is the impact of these tactics
on employees? Prepare a report and present in the class.

Project 3- Choose three articles from the business section of a


newspaper, or from a business magazine about organizations going
through change. Identify the external and internal pressures for
these changes from the article and suggest if there are any
commonalities between them? Comment.
