    OBJECTIVES
     To determine the situation of learners facing
    difficult circumstances
     To recognize who are the learners facing
    difficult circumstances
    INTRODUCTION
    All children are not fortunate enough to
    receive an environment which is conducive to
    provide appropriate development
    opportunities. The need to protect some
    children is certainly greater than others due to
    their specific socio-economic and political
    circumstances and geographical location. They
    are more vulnerable in terms of the risk to
    their right to survival, development,
    protection and participation. These are the
    children in especially difficult circumstances.
    LIVING IN REMOTE
    PLACES

    Children living in a
    remote area experience
    struggle because of the
    physical distance they
    need to travel just to
    attend school.
    VICTIMS OF WAR
    Children are often
    witnesses or victims of
    violent hostilities and
    may watch the
    destruction of their
    homes, schools and
    communities. Displaced
    and refugee children,
    suffer the additional
    traumas of being
    uprooted from home
    and resettled.
    PRODUCTS OF
    BROKEN FAMILY
    The emotional stress of a
    divorce alone can be
    enough to stunt your
    child’s academic progress,
    but the lifestyle changes
    and instability of a broken
    family can contribute to
    poor educational outcomes.

    FAMILY
    Street children have to
    fight for survival day
    after day. From finding
    food, looking for a safe
    place to spend the night
    to protecting
    themselves against the
    violence that constantly
    threatens them, life is a
    constant struggle.

    STREET CHILDREN/ CHILDREN FROM
    IMPOVERISHED FAMILY
    Dennis Sumampong

    His parents abondoned him and he subsequently fleeing his


    abusive adoptive family in Margosatubig in Zamboanga del Sur
    province, newsinfo.inquirer.net reported. As a result, he relied
    on his money from begging and used it to support his addiction.

    Fortunately, social workers from Akay Kalinga Center, a


    Catholic Church-based Katilingban sa Kalambuan (Community
    for Development) Inc., helped Dennis move on from addiction.

    Surprisingly enough, the street kid is now a college graduate


    with a bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management.
    VICTIMS OF ABUSE

    Child abuse can take


    several forms like
    physical, psychological
    or emotional, sexual
    abuse and neglect.
    Humiliations, spankings
    and beatings, slaps in
    the face, etc. are all
    considered as forms of
    physical abuse of
    children, because they
    injure the integrity and
    dignity of a child.
