Revise Unit 2

This document contains 9 questions about calculating shear force diagrams (SFD) and bending moment diagrams (BMD) for different beam configurations under various loading conditions. The questions cover cantilever beams with uniform and non-uniform loading, simply supported beams with uniform, uniformly varying, and point loads, and derive expressions for shear force and bending moment.

MOS Unit 2- Model

Questions
1 Q. A Cantilever beam having 10m length subjected to UDL of 10KN per meter length over
the entire length of the beam accompanied by a point load of 10KN at the free end. Draw
SFD and BMD.
2 Q. A beam of length 8m is simply supported at the ends and carries a point loads of 4kN, 10 kN
and 7kN at a distance of 1.5m, 2.5 m and 2 m respectively from left end A. Draw SFD and BMD.
3 Q. A cantilever of length 6m carries a gradually varying load, zero at the free end to 2kN/m
at the fixed end. Draw the SFD and BMD.
4Q. Derive the expressions for shear force and bending moment for a cantilever beam
carrying uniformly distributed load of ‘w’ per unit length over the entire length. Draw
the SFD and BMD.
5Q. A beam of length of 6m simply supported at two supports which are 4m apart, with an
overhang of 2m on one side. It carries a uniformly distributed load of 2kN/m over the entire
length and a load of 2kN at the overhanging end. Draw the S.F and B.M diagrams for the beam.
Also locate the point of contra-flexure.
6Q. An overhanging beam is shown in figure. Draw S.F. and B.M diagrams.
7Q. Derive the shear force and bending moment relations for a simply supported beam
carrying uniformly varying load of zero at both the ends to ‘w’ per unit length at the
centre. Draw the SFD and BMD.
8 Q. A cantilever of length 5m is loaded as shown in the figure. Draw the B.M diagrams of the
cantilever.
9 Q. A Simply Supported Beam having 10m length is subjected to UVL of 0 to 10KN
across the length of the Beam. Find out support Reactions and Draw SFD and BMD.
