Objectives
• Understand “The Cloud” and how it works

• Understand the key features of Google Drive

• Know how to upload, create documents, organize My

Drive, share files, and download Drive documents as
Office files.
What is Google Drive?
• Google Drive gives you the power to upload and save
a range of file types — documents, photos, audio, and videos — to
Google servers, or the "cloud.“

• Drive can serve as a backup solution, or as a way to free up space

on your device.

• With a Google Account, you get 15 GB of storage for free. Storage

gets used by Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos, so you can
store files, save your email attachments, and back up photos and
videos.
Some of Google Drive's other key features:

• Sharing files: Files are private until you share them. But at any
time,
you can invite others to view, edit, or download files and documents.

• Accessing files from anywhere: Files can be accessed from any

smartphone, tablet or computer. Offline access is also available.
How to use Google Drive

1. Open your Google Chrome browser.

2. Sign in using your DepEd account. Skip if your account is already

signed in.

3. Access Google Drive in your browser by clicking the waffle menu on

Uploading and Creating Files

To upload files, you can click on the “new” button in the

top-left corner, then select the file or folder you want to
upload.

An easier method is to simply drag and drop the file into

the browser window, which will upload it into the folder you
have open in the website interface.
Sharing of files and folders

Now that your files are in the cloud, you can right-click on
them or use the icons at the top of the screen to interact with
them. Both have the same options. Probably the most
important of these options are the two sharing options.

How to use Google Sheets
What is Google Sheets?

Google Sheets is a free, cloud-based spreadsheet application. That means

you open it in your browser window like a regular webpage, but you have all
the functionality of a full spreadsheet application for doing powerful data
analysis. It really is the best of both worlds.
How is it different to Excel?

Google Sheets is cloud-based whereas Excel is a desktop

program.
Excel can handle much bigger datasets than Sheets,
which has a limit of 2 million cells
Why use Google Sheets?

1. It’s free!

2. It’s collaborative, so teams can all see and work with the
same spreadsheet in real-time.

3. It has enough features to do complex analysis, but…

4. It’s also really easy to use.
