Voltage Profile Improvement and Loss Minimization in A Transmission Line Using Fuzzy Logic Based Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) Proposal
• FACTS device enhance the stability of power system with its fast

• Controlling of the power flow and increasing of the transfer capability
of the existing transmission lines are the basic objectives of FACTS
device.
• UPFC is one of the most versatile multi-functional new generation of
FACTS devices proposed by Gyugyi in 1991.
• In UPFC, the transmitted power can be controlled by changing three
parameters of power transmission line namely transmission voltage,
impedance and phase angle.
• FLC is proposed to overcome the problems occurred in UPFC and
used to provide the receiving end voltage constant in a transmission
line.
Statement of the problem
• Recently, due to the continuous growth of average powered transferred at peak
customer load demand in each year the power transmission system operates at
heavily loaded lines.
• This results in power losses and voltage fluctuation which may lead to abnormal
operation of the power system.
• The main cause for this abnormal operation is unscheduled increment of customer
load demand.
• Due to the increment of customer load demand the power transferred to the load
also increased.

• So, building a new transmission line will not be an effective solution.
