What is IOT ?
 IOT Stand for the Internet of Things.
 IOT is a system of interrelated computing devises, mechanical machines, digital
machines, objects and people communicate and interact with others over the
internet or network without human interaction. Also control and monitored from
remotely.
History of IOT.

 Internet of things invented in 1999. “To promote RFID Technology”


 Internet of Things coined by “Kevin Asthon” during his work at Procter and
Gamble.
 But Popularity of IOT start after 10 years from its invention. Following
reasons help to popularity of IOT.
1) Google street view technology.
2) In 2011 “hyper cycle of immerging technologies” include the Internet of
things a new emerging phenomenon.
3) Europe biggest internet web conference leWeb was the internet of
things.

objects to be part of world wide web.
 Web of things provide application layer simplifies the creation of Internet of
Things applications.
 Web of things reuses existing and well known web standards.
 W3C initially launched a “Web Of Things working group” to develop initial
standards of the web of things.
 Web Of Things working group goal is to fragmentation the IOT.
 Reduce the cost of development.
 Lesser the risk to both investors and customers.
 Grow the market for the IOT devices and services.
Internet
 Network of the network we are simply call as internet.
 To connect the people and connect devises within the multiple locations use
internet.
Industrial Internet (Of things)

 Industrial internet is the interconnection of sensors, instruments and other


devises network together with computer industrial applications.
 Incorporate ideas of intelligent machines or specific pieces of equipment with
embedded technology and the internet of things.
 How it works.
 Network of intelligent devices connect and form system that monitor, collect and
analyzing data.
 IOT ecosystem consist of following characteristics.
1) Need to have intelligent assets. (Can sense, communicate and store information
about them self.)
2) Data communication infrastructure.
3) Analytics and applications that generate business information from row data.
Industry 4.0
 Commonly referred as the fourth industry revolution.
 Name given for the current trend of automation and data exchange in
manufacturing technology.
 It includes the internet of things, cloud computing and cognitive computing.
 For this concept some call as smart factories.

 Wearable's.
 Smart City.
 Smart Grids.
 Connected Health.
 Smart Farming.

 We can divide IOT in to the three categories.


 Consumer IOT.
Consumers are in the last row when it come to the development. Consumers cannot spent enormous amount
of money on new technology.
Ea. Smart cars, Smart watches.
 Commercial IOT.
More focus around the area of businesses.
Ea. Inventory Control, Connected medical devises.
 Industrial IOT.
Industrial IOT is the area vastly developed. Not like other categories huge research and developments going with
the industrial IOT.
Ea. Pipeline monitors, Manufacturing robots.
Benefit of IOT.
IOT transforms in to the many sectors. Technology connects people, devises and
equipment's. For the following reasons IOT become popular and beneficial among
people, industry and various commercial sectors.
 Connected computing.
Amazing benefit will connected with all IOT devices. For example
phones,televisions,smart watches, vehicles. Also can track the records and can
operating through the remote places.
 Efficient Processing.
Connected devises allow us to take the smarter business decisions and give
visibility to business operations.
 Enhancing Productivity.
Improving the productivity is a major business objective. Because business
operates aim of the profit. IOT helps to businesses by providing real time data,
real time training , providing trouble shooting.

IOT be a best solution for the reduce the inefficiency in manufacturing
operations and the industrial operations. For an example reduction in the fuel,
capital expenditure and saving the money.
 Track operation and assets.
IOT helps to track and monitor operations and assets including machinery,
tools and equipment. It is improve the visibility of assets and supply chain and
run preventive maintenance on IOT infrastructure.
