To Draw The Component Diagram For Passport Automation System

1) The document describes drawing a component diagram for a passport automation system using Rational Software Architect. 2) A component diagram visualizes the organization and relationships among components in a system. It shows how a system is split into components and their dependencies. 3) The procedure involves identifying the system's components, opening the software tool, dragging and dropping components, and saving the diagram.

EXP 8: COMPONENT DIAGRAM

Aim: To draw the Component diagram for

Passport Automation System.

Software Tools used:

Rational Software Architect.
COMPONENT DIAGRAM
• Component diagrams are different in terms of
nature and behavior.
• Describes how a software system is split up into
components and shows the dependencies among
these components .
• Component diagrams are used to model physical
aspects of a system.
• Physical aspects are the elements like
executables, libraries, files, documents etc. which
resides in a node.
• So component diagrams are used to visualize the
organization and relationships among
components in a system.
• Component diagrams are used to visualize the
organization and relationships among
components in a system.
• A component represent a modular part of a
system.
• A component define its behaviors in terms of
provide and required interfaces.
• Here the three components are applicant,
system admin and authority.
• The interface between people and system
admin, from people to authority.
Purpose of the component diagram can be summarized as:
1.)Visualize the components of a system.
2.)Construct executables by using forward and reverse
engineering.
3.)Describe the organization and relationships of the
components.
• A single component diagram cannot represent the entire
system but a collection of diagrams are used to represent
the whole.
Before drawing a component diagram the following artifacts
are to be identified clearly:
• 1.) Files used in the system.
• 2.)Libraries and other artifacts relevant to the application.
• 3.)Relationships among the artifacts.

Procedure:
Procedure for Designing Component Diagram

Step 1: Identify the different components for

Passport Automation system.
Step 2: Open Rational Software Architect
Step 3: From the palette menu select component
diagram option which displays all the components
related to component diagram.
Step 4: Drag and drop required number of
components as per the requirements.
Step 5: save the diagram
