OVERVIEW OF PROJECT PLANNING

Project planning involves a series of steps


that determine how to achieve a particular
community or organizational goal or set of
related goals. This goal can be identified in a
community plan or a strategic plan.
Project Planning:
identifies specific community
problems that stand in the way of
meeting community goals.
creates a work plan for addressing
problems and attaining the goals.
describes measurable beneficial
impacts to the community that result
from the project’s implementation.
determines the level of resources or
funding necessary to implement the
project.

Goal: The specific result or


purpose expected from the
project.

outcomes or results to be achieved
within the proposed project period.

completing objectives and activities,
and includes a budget.

interest group) is someone who

through the outcomes of a project.

It helps in identifying
educational goals and objectives.
It helps in even or effective
distribution of scarce resources.
It aids decision making in
education and is necessary for
administrative decision making
in education.
Effective planning makes
provision for quality
education.
Effective educational planning
enhances investment in human
capital which leads to rapid
national economic growth.
Educational planning
reduces exigencies in the
educational sector. Problems
are anticipated in time and
dealt with appropriately.
Well planned education
enhances literacy and reduces
ignorance among citizens.
Planning gives direction and
guidelines for a country’s
educational system.

Good project management practice requires


project managers to carefully analyze all
potential risks to the project, quantify them,
develop a plan against them, and a contingency
plan should any of them materialize.

It ensures the right people do the right


things, at the right time.
8. CONTINUOUS OVERSIGHT

It ensures a project’s progress is


tracked and reported properly.
9. SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTISE
Project planning is important because someone needs to be
able to understand if everyone’s doing what they should.
Having people with highly- competent in technical
skills and subject matter experts; they’ll know everything
about the work that their teams execute; the platforms and
systems they use, and the possibilities and limitations, and
the kinds of issues that typically occur.
10. MANAGING AND LEARNING FROM
SUCCESS AND FAILURE
It gives learnings from the successes and failures of
the past.
It can break bad habits and when you’re delivering
projects use lessons learned or post project reviews
to consider what went well, what didn’t go so well
and what should be done differently for the next
project.

Without Project Planning, teams and clients are
exposed to chaotic management, unclear
objectives, a lack of resources, unrealistic
planning, high risk, poor quality project
deliverables, projects going over budget and
delivered late.

on investment, and that makes happy clients.
