“RASHTRA RATNA” Babu Shiv Prasad Gupt and “BHARAT RATNA” Bhagwan Das
established the University in Varanasi, on 10 February 1921, during the non-
cooperation movement of the freedom struggle. Originally named Kashi
Vidyapith, the University was renamed Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith in
1995. It was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi.
At this point, Prof. Raghukul Tilak was the vice-chancellor and the Governor of
U.P. became the chancellor in accordance with the U.P. University Act. At
present, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith is flourishing under the able
leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Anand K. Tyagi.
About University
Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith is a public University located in Varanasi or
Benaras, Uttar Pradesh, India. Established in 1921 as Kashi Vidyapith and later
renamed, it is administered under the state legislature of the Government of
Uttar Pradesh. The University has more than 350+ affiliated colleges spread
over six districts (Varanasi, Chandauli, Bhadohi, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Ballia). It
is one of the largest State Universities in Uttar Pradesh. Thousands of students
study here from rural and urban area. It offers a range of Professional and
Academic courses in Arts, Science, Ag. Science, Commerce, Law, Computing and
Management, Education, Physical Education, Yoga and Naturopathy Education
Centre.
About Yoga & Naturopathy Education Centre
P.G. Diploma in Naturopathy & Yoga (Two Semester) Course was inaugurated
on 12th August 2016 by Dr. Prithvish Nag, Former Vice Chancellor at that time
under the Faculty of Education. Yoga and Naturopathy Education Center was
inaugurated by Shri Ram Naik, Governor of Uttar Pradesh, on 10th October
2017.
In the year 2018 Certificate Course in Yoga and Wellness was introduced and it
started as a short term certification course so that the students can learn the
basics of yoga and wellness in 45 days only. This course was designed

especially for students who are willing to learn yoga, but not getting sufficient
time. This centre has achieved excellence at many stages in short period of 5
years. The key role in achieving this excellence goes to the Dean of Faculty of
Education & Director, Prof. Susheel Kumar Gautam.
Dr. Sunita Kushwaha, Dr. Sunil Kumar Yadav and Dr. Chandramani played
important role in developing this center. Mrs. Nisha Viajayan and Ms. Puja
Sonkar have also joined the center in its journey of excellence.
Yoga & Naturopathy Education Center has successfully organized many

International, National and regional seminars, workshops and camps on various
health topics so far. Many training programs have been organized to enhance
the yoga skills and academic excellence of its student and faculty.
New course, such as B.A, M.A. in Yoga and OPD (Yoga & Naturopathy) is
proposed and will be launched by the University in the coming years so that
students can gain more knowledge and practical working skill to treat any
patient.
About Webinar
COVID-19 is a big threat to every nation on this planet. It has caused huge loss
of life and has taken the form of global pandemic.
The modern medical system has no solution to this calamity. People around the
world are suffering physically, mentally, emotionally, economically and socially.
The scientists have predicted that we are moving towards the third wave of
COVID-19. The third wave is said to be more dreadful with huge community
spread of Corona Virus.
How an integrated approach of various systems of Yoga, Naturopathy & Allied

Therapies can be applied to save humanity from the upcoming third wave of
COVID-19. Further how they can help society, health workers and their families,
neighborhood, police personnel and their families, farmers, students, teachers
and common people.
Viewed against this backdrop, a 2-days national webinar is being organized by
Yoga and Naturopathy Education Centre, Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith,
Varanasi. The focal theme of this webinar is Preparedness, Awareness &
Efficacy Of Yoga, Naturopathy & Parallel Therapies With Reference To
Upcoming Third Wave Of COVID – 19.
