Water Level Monitoring and Control System Using Float Switch
This document summarizes a project to develop a water level monitoring and control system using float switches in an acrylic tank. The system allows a user to select a desired water level using an LCD screen interface and controls pumping to automatically maintain the level. Float switches placed in the tank precisely detect the water level and control pumping. The system was able to successfully monitor and control the water level through testing of the float switches and user interface.

Water Level Monitoring and
Control System using Float
Switch Palaganas, Rod Diego T. Ramo, Romel Serzo, Reinier Josh S. Introduction ABSTRACT This paper presents the design and implementation of a remote experiment for controlling the water level inside of an acrylic tank and a real-time water level control of an acrylic water tank demonstrating the reliability of float switches. Description of the Project ● It is used to control and observe the desired level of water in the tank. ● The user can control the amount of water needed in the tank by choosing the desired maintaining water level in the LCD menu screen. ● The float switches are used to determine each level of water in the tank and also to know the exact amount of water. Objectives of the Project General Objectives ● to develop a water monitoring system where the user can control and observe the level of water in the tank. Specific Objectives ● To program an automatic pumping system using the Gizduino Uno. ● To develop a graphic user interface system using Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) to monitor the water level. ● To utilize the use of float switches and to test their reliability. SCOPES AND LIMITATION SCOPE ● The prototype can determine the level of the water in the tank. ● The prototype can pump water in the tank. ● The prototype can measure the amount of water in the tank.
● The prototype can drain water from the tank.
LIMITATIONS ● The prototype can’t fully drain water from the tank. ● The prototype needs to drain the water before lowering the desired water level if you chose a higher level before. ● The prototype is only limited to three water levels that is programmed to do so. OPERATIONAL PROCEDURE ● Turn the switch ON and wait for the LCD to boot up. ● Once the LCD has booted up, wait for the “Maintaining Water Level” to appear. ● Choose a desired amount of water to fill up the tank by pushing the UP and DOWN buttons, then confirm it by pressing the SELECT button. ● You can also choose “Drain” if you wish to drain the water from the tank. It is also used if you want to change the water level of your tank. ● There is a RESET button if you want to refresh the system (optional). ● Turn the switch OFF after using. OPERATIONAL PROCEDURE 1. Turn the switch ON and wait for the LCD to boot up. 2. Once the LCD has booted up, wait for the “Maintaining Water Level” to appear. 3. Choose a desired amount of water to fill up the tank by pushing the UP and DOWN buttons, then confirm it by pressing the SELECT button. 4. You can also choose “Drain” if you wish to drain the water from the tank. It is also used if you want to change the water level of your tank. 5. There is a RESET button if you want to refresh the system (optional). 6. Turn the switch OFF after using. CONCLUSION The proponents were able to design a prototype where they can monitor and control the water level inside of an acrylic tank. The proponents were able to create a user interface for the control menu to control the amount of water level. The proponents were able to design a prototype where the water level is precise with the help of placing float switches onto the acrylic tank. Through the series of comparison of testing conducted by the proponents, the proponents were able to determine that all sensors used in the prototype are accurate and properly functioning. Therefore, the proponents have reached the conclusion that the prototype is functioning well and all the objectives have been accomplished.
