PURPOSE:
A water-pumping windmill pumps water from wells, ponds, and other area; which can be
used as a supply of water for drinking, household chores, minor irrigation, among others.

Now, how does it really work? A water pumping windmill is quite simple and efficient. The
blades of the windmill fan catch the wind, which turns the long rod - that is connected to the
fan by a conrod. This motion drives a pump rod, up and down inside of a pipe buried
underground where there could be a source of water. The Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) with a
sealed plunger going up and down inside forces the water up the pipe. This causes the water
to go from underground to the surface above, providing a continuous supply of water.
Moreover, water pumping windmill is also nature friendly since it does not require any
electricity to run; thus, it does not produce any pollution. However, this is only applicable
in the land areas where there is strong wind. Specifically for this project, we came up with
the idea of creating this wind pump in a smaller version where you can plant it your own
garden with enough space or anywhere near your home where the wind is strong. It is
basically practical for those who wants to save energy from using the electricity driven
supply of water like the usual source of water we have in urban areas. Not only does this
water pumping windmill saves electricity, it also helps people to save their own body
strength since it does not require manual procedure; which again, it only requires strong
wind. With that, you can have a continuous supply of water without paying any bill in a
nature-friendly way.
