Goals vs Objectives
Goals are the somewhat general ends toward which much more specific sub-goals
or objectives are directed.
SMART goals, actually refers more to sub-goals and objectives than it does to the
much broader term, goals.

Objective Types
Process objectives - lets you know what you are doing and how you will do it;
describes participants, interactions, and activities. (Measure)
Impact objectives - identifying what the long term implications of your activities are.
(Relevant)
Goals should have specific actions or behaviors that you will do in order to document whether
or not you are on track to completing your goal. There should be a deadline to complete each
action by and a method for recording actions and deadlines (planner, phone calendars, etc.). Think
of this as your action plan.

Achievable: Are you able to achieve this goal within the available time and resources? Is
your goal realistic? Think about what motivates you. Are you motivated to get over any obstacles
that may arise? How committed are you to your goals? Obstacles to goal completion are
inevitable. Obstacles could include lack of motivation or lack of resources. How can you get over
these obstacles? What resources are available to you? Who can help you complete your goals?

Time-bound: Your goal should have a deadline of when it will be complete. It is important to
define your time parameters to keep yourself accountable. With a stable deadline, the pursuit of the
goal is more rigorous and more likely to be completed.
