TOOLS TO ASSESS

CURRICULUM
1. ANECDOTAL RECORDS
> written records of a teacher’s observation
> anecdotal record of written observations of student progress for the teacher to easily
understand what are the likes and dislikes of that student or the strengths and weak-
nesses of that student and it also helps the teacher to improve his way of teaching his
student
.
2. THE CHECKLIST
> an easy method for collecting information about child progress
> checklist are the tools that state specific criteria and allow teachers and students to
gather information and make judgements about what students know and can do in
relation to the outcome.

3. THE RATING SCALE


> record the range of student achievement in relation to specific behaviors
> a simple tool for assessing performing on a several-point scale ranging from low to high.
> it may have as few as 3 points or as many as 10 points.
> is based on a criteria which allows the teacher to judge the performance,product,attitude and or behavior
along a continuum is used to judge the quality of a performance.
4. THE RUBRICS
> make scoring of student performance more precise than using a list of items
> rubrics are contains of brief, written description of the different levels of students
performances
> is a descriptive rating scale which requires the rater to choose among the different
levels

ASSESSMENT STRATEGIES
 structures through which student knowledge and skills are assessed.
1 PENCIL-AND-PAPER STRATEGY
- this strategy focuses in assessing the students understanding and how well the students learn the topic
that the teacher has been discussed. This strategy is more on cognitive domain where a student cons-
tructs a response to a question,topic, or brief statement and it also provides the student with oppurtu
nity to show what he has learn in the topic that the teacher discussed.
eg. Essay –is a writing sample used to assess student understanding and/or how well students can analyze and
synthesize
Select Response- is a pencil-and-paper assessment in which student is to identify the one correct answer.
2. PERFORMANCE-BASED STRATEGY
- this strategy is an assessment which requires students to demonstrate a skill by asking them to create,pro-
duce,or perform. This strategy is more on the psychomotor domain where a student enables to demonstrate
abilities and skills.
eg. Exhibition/Demonstration-is a performance in which a student demonstrates individual achievement
through application of skills and knowledge.
