What is technical report?
• Formally structured document written with a particular
purpose to inform and offer recommendations
• For a specific audience
• When it is based on persons
 Reading and
 Practical work(investigation, survey, experiment
or review of practice in other organizations)
• Which draw conclusions and
• may suggest research action or improvement

Why technical report writing?
• Major component of any practical work and research
• Even if research work has good quality and result it is
noting unless presented or informed for other
Reports generally aim to:
• Set out the issue and explain why the activity was
undertake.
• Describe what was done and how it was done.
• Present the findings, conclusions, and any
recommendations

Report writing process
To make quality report time , attention , accuracy and cute work
flow are needed
The usual process involved in writing report are
1)Logical analysis of the subject matter
Logical development Chronological development

Report writing format
• May report write in different way for different area
• business firms prefer reports in the letter form
• Mathematicians investigation report algebraic notations.
• Chemists report their results in symbols and formulae.
• Students of literature usually write long reports presenting the
critical analysis of some writer or period or the like with a liberal
use of quotations from the works of the author under discussion.
• In the field of education and psychology, report on the results of
experimentation accompanied by the detailed statistical tabulations .

the main emphasis is: the methods employed, simplicity and attractiveness. through clear writing,
assumptions made in the course of the study, minimization of technical, particularly mathematical,
the detailed presentation of the findings including their details and liberal use of charts and diagrams
