Headings, chapters and sections
Headings are standard features of technical
documents. Have the ff. advantages: Provide organizational overview of the document Show logical development of ideas Cont’d… Show hierarchical relationship of ideas (headings, sub-headings) Consistency: Make sure that your headings at each level are consistent in design (font, size, colour, indentation, etc) Increase readability of the document by providing breaks and white space. Cont’d… Specificity: Use descriptive heading that informs the reader the content of that section.
Avoid too long and many headings that
may confuse the reader Note: Do not ‘stack’ headings one below another; It must have at least a sentence of information below it Do not ‘overuse’ headings; Every sentence does not require its own heading, nor its paragraph.
