There are 4 steps to create a prototype: 1) Create a concept sketch, 2) Develop a virtual prototype, 3) Build a physical prototype, and 4) Locate a manufacturer. Prototypes have advantages like enabling testing and refinement of a design and making it possible to test different materials.
