Fact is a specific detail that can be proven as
true based on objective evidence.

Example:

Rodrigo Duterte is our President.


• Opinion is something that a person thinks or
feels, and not necessarily supported by proof or
knowledge. Opinions change from person to
person.

Example:

The dog is cute.


Facts or Opinion

FACT OPINION

Felipe and Osang are siblings. Felipe always says


facts that can be verified with concrete evidence.
Osang has always an opinion about a particular
topic. Read the following sentences and decide who
said these.
• The first day of school is exciting.
• Magnetism is a natural force in nature.
• Pres. Duterte’s speech was exceptionally good.
• Wearing a jacket today is a good
idea.
• Meteorites are rocks from space.
• Buko juice is the best juice with
dinner.
• Having a vegetable garden is too much work.
• Fruit salad tastes good with cheese
cubes.
• Eating fresh fruit provides important nutrients
to your body.
• I think public opinion will change over
time.
Remember!
• A fact is something that can be verified
and backed up with evidence. It is not
influenced by personal feelings

• An opinion is based on a belief or view


that cannot be proven as true or false.
