INTRODUCTION
 Composites are basically the materials which are made
up of two or more constituents.
 In composites , the discontinuous phase is called the
reinforcement which is usually harder and stronger the
matrix which is called continuous phase. Reinforcement
used to improve overall mechanical properties of matrix
and give strength to composites of matrix and give
strength to composites.
 There are three types of composites based on types of
matrix but we will be taking up POLYMER MATRIX
COMPOSITES(PMC).It has high strength and low cost.
 PMCs have two types of polymer that have been used as
matrix. These are thermoplastics and thermosetting
polymer.
 Thermoplastic polymer is that polymer which are
repeatedly softened and reformed by heating. Some
examples of thermoplastics are PVC, LDPE and HDPE.
 Thermosetting polymer is the polymer which has hard
and stiff cross-linked materials. They are not soften
mold able when they are heated.
 Epoxy is the most commonly used thermosetting
polymer. They have many advantages such as better
adhesion to other materials, good mechanical properties,
and good electrical insulation.
LITERATURE REVIEW
 Fiber material which we are using is human hair which
is easily available. It has high elasticity and is non
degradable matter. Human hair has solid malleable
property.
 The most normally utilized thermosetting gums are
epoxy, polyester, vinyl ester, phenolics. Around them
the epoxy resin is the most commonly used
polymer.Epoxy is taken as matrix material. The human
hair fibers are blended with epoxy by the basic
mechanical mixing and composite is prepared.
 After preparing the composite various mechanical test
are done. Mechanical properties of the composite may
depend upon the fiber loading or fiber length.
 Sugarcane bagasse fiber-reinforced composites are
found to exhibit better specific mechanical properties,
such as stiffness, flexibility, and modulus compared to
those reinforced by glass fibers . It can be perfect
alternatives for reinforcing bio-composites as it is
renewable and less expensive sources due to its
abundance as well as low preparation cost of the fibers.
 Hybrid composites: HCs are one among the
multifunctional materials utilized in advanced structural
parts when a cloth is required that has quite one
characteristic enjoy its constituent materials.
 Applications of Hybrid Natural Fiber Composites: There
are various places in automobile where natural fiber
composite is found like door panels, instrument panels,
armrests, headrests and seat shells.
Methodology
 Sugarcane fiber will be soaked in water then dried and
then washed with tolvin solution then with epoxy as
matrix mixed with hair to form a plate which will be
later tested for its mechanical properties and corrosion
test.
 Human hair can be collected from the barber shop.
Work done
Basically we have reviewed the following research papers
 Reviewed research paper on the topic study on
mechanical behaviour of human hair fiber reinforced
epoxy composite.
 J.O. Agunsoye, V.S. Aigbodion,bagasse filled recycled
polyethylene bio-composites: Morphological and
mechanical properties study.

Pending Work
 Procurement of materials.
 Manufacturing the hair and sugarcane fiber enforced
composite.
 Testing of mechanical properties of the composite.
Conclusions

The experimental investigation on the mechanical

behaviour of human hair fiber and sugarcane bagasse
reinforced composites shows the following conclusions:
 In this work the fruitful production hair fiber based
epoxy composites with diverse fiber lengths and loading
is possible.
 It should be recognized that the fiber parameters such as
fiber loading and length has critical impact on the
mechanical properties of the composites.
 If the percentage of fiber increases in sugarcane
bagasse, the tensile strength and bending strength
decreases.
