Discussion And Conclusion

INTRODUCTION

 The comparative study Includes its cost and the seismic results
such as joint displacement, story forces, story drift, natural time
period, story stiffness and base reaction.
 other parameters like story forces, story stiffness, story drift and
base shear will also be studied.
 dynamic analysis by response spectrum method for RCC bare
frame and steel bare frame using ETABS 2016.
 Response spectrum analysis can be used to estimate the peak
response (displacement, stress, etc.) of a structure to a particular
base motion or force.
SCOPE OF WORK
Objectives of the study
• To perform dynamic analysis by response spectrum method for RCC
bare frame and steel bare frame using ETABS 2016.
• To obtain the seismic results such as joint displacement, story forces,
story stiffness, story drift, natural time period and base shear for
different building models.

Modeling and Analysis

• G+ 9 RCC And Steel Frame will be modeled in ETABS 2016
• Frames will be analyzed by dynamic seismic method of Response
Spectrum method

seismic results can be obtained such as joint The maximum displacement values are less in
displacement, story forces, story stiffness, story composite structures compared to RCC and steel
drift, natural time period and base shear structures hence it concludes that stiffness of
composite structure is high compared to other
buildings.

The seismic results are more for Steel frame As the stiffness of composite members is high,
than the R.C.C frame the story drifts of composite structures are
comparatively less than RCC and
steel structures within permissible limits.

Steel frame is more costlier than R.C.C frame . time period required is also less for
composite structures as compared to RCC and
steel structure

Comparative Study of Static and Dynamic SEISMIC INELASTIC DESIGN OF STEEL

Seismic Analysis of Multistoried RCC Building by STRUCTURES BY SPECTRUM ANALYSIS AND
ETAB: A Review EQUIVALENT DAMPING

difference of values of displacement between Maximum deflection for zone2 and zone3 due to
static and dynamic analysis is insignificant for equivalent static load is more compared to
lower stories but the difference is increased in dynamic earthquake loads
higher stories and static analysis gives higher
values than dynamic analysis

Static analysis is not sufficient for high rise Storey stiffness is more for the dynamic
buildings and it’s necessary to provide dynamic earthquake loads compared to static earthquake
analysis loads; hence building is stiffer for dynamic loads

Irregular shapes are severely affected during Mode shapes are in good agreement with the
earthquakes especially in high seismic zones. standard mode shapes.

In Zone-III and Zone-V, the storey displacement Storey stiffness is more for the dynamic
values obtained from both the analysis is earthquake loads
evident that the storey displacement is more in compared to static earthquake loads; hence
top storey. The value of storey displacement in building is stiffer for dynamic loads
Zone-V is greater than Zone-III.

The storey shear in both response spectrum As Time History is realistic method, used for
method and time history method is maximum at seismic analysis, it provides a better check to the
the ground. Its value is higher for Zone-V than safety of structures analyzed and designed by
Zone-III. method specified by IS code. In our study time
history is not governing.

The storey drift is maximum for time history Mode shapes are in good agreement with the
method for EQX load case in 5th storey standard mode shapes.

Seismic Response Prediction Of Steel Comparative Study of RCC and Steel-Concrete

Frame Building Composite Building based on Seismic Analysis

The building is analyzed for both static and Under seismic considerations because of the
dynamic approach. inherent ductility characteristics, steel-concrete
structure will perform better than a
conventional R.C.C structure.

displacement for response spectrum analysis, Y- Base Shear for RCC frame is on higher side
direction is 1.5 times greater than X-direction because the weight of the RCC frame is more
than the composite frame

base shear in X-direction Analysis of the composite building shows that

the structure are very less for the same loadings
as compared to the RCC building.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION

• Using, Etabs 2016 RCC and Steel Frame structures models are
studied
• Seismic static as well as dynamic analysis are performed and
their results are generalized
• Seismic parameters such as joint displacements, Base shear,
storey drift, natural
Time period are calculated and compared.
• Cost effect of both kind of structures are compared and
analyzed.
