TYPES OF FABRIC
COTTON
Cotton is a natural
fiber that comes from
the seedpod of the
cotton plant and is
used to make many
fabric types at every
price point.
DENIM
A durable twill-
woven fabric with
coloured warp and
white filling threads; it
is also woven in. It is
yarn-dyed and mill-
finished and is usually
all-cotton, although
considerable
quantities are of a
cotton-synthetic fibre
mixture.
FELT
Felt is a textile
material that is
produced by matting,
condensing and
pressing fibers
together. Felt can be
made of natural fibers
such as wool or
animal fur, or from
synthetic fibers.
FLEECE
Polyester fleece is
a soft, fuzzy fabric
used for sweaters,
sweat shirts, jackets,
mittens, hats,
blankets, and in any
other applications
where a warm, wool-
like material is
needed.
POLYESTER
Polyester is a plastic-
based fabric. It is very
durable: resistant to
most chemicals,
stretching and
shrinking, wrinkle
resistant and abrasion
resistant.
RAYON
Rayon was the first
manufactured fiber. It
is made from wood
pulp, a naturally-
occurring, cellulose-
based raw material.
As it's a semi-
synthetic fibre, it is an
extremely versatile
material that's often
used to substitute
natural fibres in
clothing.
SATIN
Satin has a soft, even,
glossy texture,
reflecting light for a
luxurious look.
It is formed with
a satin weave using
filament fibres such
as silk, polyester or
nylon.
SILK
Silk fabric is widely
regarded as the most
luxurious textile on
the planet. A natural
protein fibre, silk is
constructed primarily
from the cocoons of
the larvae of mulberry
silkworms
VELVET
A fabric having a
short, dense pile,
used in clothing and
upholstery. Velvet is
made in the pile
weave, of silk, cotton,
or synthetic fibres,
and is characterized
by a soft, downy
surface formed by
clipped yarns.
