    On February 15, 1995, Katagiri, a longtime collections
    officer for the Tokyo Security Trust Bank, is surprised
    to find a giant frog waiting for him politely outside his
    apartment. Frog introduces himself and apologizes for
    barging into Katagiri’s home, claiming to have an
    urgent matter to discuss. He has come because Tokyo
    is about to be destroyed. Katagiri thinks that it must
    be a prank, but Frog assures him that they are the only
    ones present. Frog tells him that he isn’t crazy and
    that Katagiri isn’t dreaming. Confused and
    overwhelmed, Katagiri asks whether Frog is “a real
    frog.” Frog replies in the affirmative and demonstrates
    actions that prove that he is real.

    Introduction
    Katagiri: Protagonist of the story. Katagiri is 40 years
    old, short, balding, and seemingly unremarkable.
    Nevertheless, Katagiri is a tough, reliable man, have a
    strong sense of duty and responsibility. And Frog
    chooses him to assist in the battle with Worm because
    he sees a courage and staunchness in the man whom
    everyone else seems to overlook.
    Frog: Frog is six feet tall. He is philosophical and
    thoughtful, He pursue honor and have a heroic spirit
    he is willing to sacrifice his life for his duty and
    responsibility.

      Characters and
    Characterization
    The Worm: The antagonist of the story. He is very big
    and has the ability to produce rage by absorbing
    reverberation and every little rumble that he feels.

    Shiraoka: An attorney of Big Bear Trading


     
    The Nurse: The one who took care of Katagiri in the
    hospital. She is kind and understanding.
     
     Young man: A hitman or thug

    Tokyo is in danger from an earthquake cause by the
    anger of Worm.
     
    There is also a conflict about Katagiri and his society.
    No one recognize the effort and works of what Katagiri

    Conflict
    The Frog tells Mr. Katagiri that there is a Giant worm
    directly under the Tokyo Security Trust Bank where Mr.
    Katagiri is working that will cause a very big
    earthquake that have a probability that it can cause
    150,000 deaths. To prevent the massive earthquake
    that might happen in February 18, 8:30 AM. Frog plans
    to fight the gigantic worm and asked the help of Mr.
    Katagiri

    Rising Action
    On the evening of the February 17, Katagiri was
    walking down the street of shinjuku on his way back to
    the Trust Bank to help Frog in the upcoming battle with
    the Worm. However unexpected things happen.
    Katagiri was shot by a young man with a small black
    gun. When he woke up he was in bed at the hospital.
    He finds out that he did not get shot and the date and
    time is February 18, 9:15 am. The predicted time that
    the earthquake will happen already passed.

    Climax
    Katagiri finds out that what he remembers in the
    evening of February 17 doesn’t really happen in reality.
    The nurse explained that somebody found him lying
    unconscious in the Kabukicho neighborhood of
    Shinjuku. Then Frog came to hospital room at night
    and explained to Katagiri that he was a great help in
    the fight with the worm. Frog recount what happened
    in the battle, in the end, Frog was unable to defeat
    Worm and come into a draw and they are both
    wounded but he manage to stop the earthquake. After
    Frog recounted the story he passed out and then
    worms started to crawl out of his body. Frog died and
    the endless worm crept onto Katagiri, filled with an
    intense despair, Katagiri screamed. Then he was
    waked up by the nurse.
    Falling Action
    It is after the nurse woke him up from his terrible
    dream. Katagiri's body was soaked in sweat. Katagiri
    told the nurse on how Frog saved the Tokyo from
    being destroyed by an earthquake all by himself. But it
    cost him his life. Katagiri admitted that he was very
    fond of Frog. Then he closed his eyes and sank into a
    restful, dreamless sleep.

    Denouement
    Discussion

    The title of the short story is very suitable to the story.


    Because it summarizes the content of the story and
    also the title gives an attraction and curiosity to the
    readers. By my experience while reading the story, the
    title pushed my curiosity and interest in the selection
    of how can a Frog save the Tokyo
    Discussion
    The predominant element of the short story is the
    theme. The short story conveys a strong message to
    the readers. That there are some responsibilities in life
    that we need to do, not for glory or for someone else
    but for the contentment of ourselves. The theme of
    Super Frog Saves Tokyo is do your duties and
    responsibilities not for someone else, for glory or
    because it is your obligation. Do it for your
    contentment of your life that you know you fulfill your
    duty and responsibility.
    Discussion

    Katagiri is the main character of the story whom the


    story centers. The theme of the story revolves about is
    life. Katagiri did his duties and responsibilities but no
    one recognize his efforts. And the theme of the story
    revolves about that topic. That we should to our duty
    and obligation for ourselves because it is our honor.
