INTRODUCTION
• A dam is a barrier that stops or restricts the
flow of water or underground streams.
• Reservoirs created by dams not only suppress
floods
• Also provide water for activities such as
irrigation, human consumption, industrial use,
aquaculture, and navigability.
DEFINITION
• A barrier constructed to hold back water and
raise its level, forming a reservoir used to
generate electricity or as a water supply is
called as dams.
