What is a Critical
Review?
Before we begin, let’s see what a critical
review is and how we can, in a sense, link
the movie to our text.
With Tala
A critical review is the summarization and evaluation
of the ideas and information in an article. It expresses
the writer’s (your) point of view in the light of what
you already know on the subject and what is acquired
from related texts. Reviewing critically means
thinking carefully and clearly and taking into
consideration both the strengths and weaknesses in the
material under review.

one of them will make it out.

About the Director [Lana]
The survival guilt is a feeling that one has done something wrong by surviving
a traumatic event when friends or relatives were harmed or killed. The soldiers
survive for the country. They left their friends and family to keep us in peace.
When they return home, they feel guilty because they lost their friends in the
war. They feel guilty and responsible because they didn't save their friends’
lives.
Relation to “The Moral Logic of Survival Guilt”
They may experience a sense of guilt, despite having no reason to feel guilty.
The guilt felt by soldiers is not just a moral means or adaptation to the species.
It is fitting because it gets some of the right moral traits of the soldiers world -
that good soldiers are dependent on each other, love each other, and have
duties to look after each other. Often it happens that soldiers physically harm
or kill the soldiers of their opponent.
Relation to “The Moral Logic of Survival Guilt”
Conditions force them to end someone's life, they are supposed to destroy the
enemy forces, but the enemies are human beings in the end. And that made
them feel sad.
Relation to the Essential Question [Zeenah]
Survival takes both mental and physical strength. It requires bravery. Being
brave and courageous doesn’t indicates that fear won't be following behind. It
will creep like a shadow to the person who is fighting for existence. The real
fear lies within the thought of losing people we love.
Just like Michael in the movie "Lone Survivor", he was acting all heroic in
front of the group , but what was he showing totally differs from what was he
hiding. He was worried that one of the soldiers might get shot or killed.
Although he was ready to win the battle, Michael wasn’t well prepared to lose
his loved ones.
Relation to the Essential Question [Zeenah]
Scars drawn all over his body due to fighting for a breath will fade away over
time, but the scar in his heart will never leave his heart. It will leave a mark
like a stamp. That’s the cost of survival.
