Console FortiGate

• Plug in console cable to


FortiGate CONSOLE port.
• Open putty (software for
console devices).
• Choose “Serial” in
connection type and field
serial line for your PC USB
port.
• Use speed 9600.
• Login.

Access GUI FortiGate

• Setting PC with DHCP.


• Plug in UTP cable to
FortiGate port 1.
• Make sure that we get IP.
• Open web browser and
access https to default
gateway DHCP.
• https://192.168.1.99
• Login.

Check IP Interface

• Access by Console:
Use command
“show system interface”
• Check IP.

• Access by GUI:
“network  interface”.
• Check IP and status port.

Check Default Route

• Access by Console:
Use command
“show router static”.
• Check IP.

• Access by GUI:
“Network  Static Routes”
• Check destination 0.0.0.0/0

Factory Reset

• Access device by console.


• Login.
• If we can login successfully
then use this command for
reset:
“execute factoryreset”
• Choose “y”.

Factory Reset

• Access device by console.


• Login.
• If we can not login (incorrect
username and password).
• Power off FortiGate first
because we cannot use
reset button after 60
seconds after power on.
• Waiting till “login session”
• Push reset button till system
is resetting to factory default.
