• Many look at massage as a luxury, but it is
becoming more of a necessity to maintain
well-being.

• There is little knowledge in relation to that of


mainstream medicine, but people seem to
perceive the risk associated with trying
massage as very low and the prospective
rewards immediate and tangible.
• A study by Touch Research Institute in 1996, showed that
preterm babies who received massage therapy had 47% greater
weight gain & 6 day shorter hospital stay then infants not
receiving massage

• Reduced chronic back pain in relation to other complementary


techniques.

• Safe and Effective way to reduce pain and improve function in


the adults with osteoarthritis of the knees

• Alzheimer’s patients showed reduced pacing, irritability and


restlessness after neck and shoulder massage

• Fibromyalgia patients receiving 30 minute massages had less


pain, depression, anxiety, stiffness, fatigue and sleep problems.
