Wifi Controlled Obstacle Avoiding Robotics Car

The document describes a Wi-Fi controlled robotic car that can avoid obstacles. It uses an ultrasonic sensor to detect obstacles in front and a NodeMCU Wi-Fi module to control the car remotely via an Android app or internet. The car's hardware includes DC motors, an L293D motor driver IC, ultrasonic sensor, NodeMCU, and a power supply. Its software includes the Mert Arduino app and Arduino IDE. Block, flow, and schematic diagrams illustrate how it works by sending ultrasonic pulses and receiving echoes to measure distances to obstacles.

WI-FI CONTROLLED

OBSTACLE AVOIDING
ROBOTIC CAR
EP419: Introduction to Automation and Motion Control
Mid Term Project
OBJECTIVE:
To design a wi-fi controlled robotic car which automatically avoids obstacle in
front of it.
FEATURES:
• A wi-fi module has been used (NodeMCU).

• Can connect with either android app or internet

• Ultrasonic sensor for distance measurement and obstacle avoidance.

• Completely wireless communication.

How to detect obstacles?

Ultrasonic Sensors can be used for this purpose.

An ultrasonic sensor is an instrument that measures the distance to an object
using ultrasonic sound waves. An ultrasonic sensor uses a transducer to send
and receive ultrasonic pulses that relay back information about an object’s
proximity. High-frequency sound waves reflect from boundaries to produce
distinct echo patterns.
HARDWARE REQUIRED
1. Node MCU (wi-fi module) 2. L293D motor driver IC

3. DC motors 4. Ultrasonic sensor

5. Jumper wires 6. Power supply

SOFTWARE REQUIRED
1. Mert arduino application

2. Arduino IDE

WORKING:
APPLICATIONS:
• This can be used as a means of surveillance, security.

• This can be used as a means for transferring confidential data.

• This can also be used for presence of object around the surveillance area.

• It can be used for gathering information like temperature and humidity of places
without actually going there.
FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS:
• You can make this project with advanced features like integrating a camera and
accessing the feed live on the browser.

• A GPS tracker can be placed and it’s exact ontime location can also be traced.

• Instead of stopping the car when an obstacle comes, its direction could be
changed.
