A STUDENT’S

DAILY
ALLOWANCE
A HYPOTHESIS TESTING SURVEYED AT TAGBILARAN CITY
SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL’S JUNIOR HIGH STUDENTS BY A
GROUP OF RESEARCHERS FROM IX-DALTON
THE PROBLEM
A group of researchers assume that the average daily


allowance of TCSHS students is 50 pesos. A random

sample of sixty students has a mean of 65 pesos. At a
0.05, the researchers will test the claim that the
average daily allowance of a TCSHS student is more
than 50 pesos. The standard deviation of the
population is 32.13.
PROCEDURE
1. Gathering of Data. A group of 60 TCSHS students (five

students in each three sections for each of the four grade

levels) have been interviewed regarding the said survey.

2. Interpretation and Analysis of Data.

HYPOTHESIS TESTING
 Step 1: State the hypothesis and identify the claim.
H0: μ=50 H1: μ>50
 Step 2: Find the critical value. Since α = 0.05 and the test
is a right-tailed test, the critical value is z = 1.65
 Step 3: Compute the test value.
z = 65 – 50 z = 3.62
32.13/√60
HYPOTHESIS TESTING
Step 4: Make the decision.

0 1.65 3.62
CONCLUSION
 Step 5: Summarize the results:

THE NULL HYPOTHESIS IS

REJECTED
There is enough evidence to support the claim that the average
daily allowance of TCSHS Junior High students is greater than
50 pesos.
