Course Description
• This course content includes: -

– Section of solids;
– Perspective views of simple objects;
– Principle of Axonometric Views;
– Interpenetration of solids;
– Development of surfaces; and
– Nomograms

Course Objectives
• This course is designed to develop

the basic skills of the use of
computer technology in the design
process

Course Contents -1
Section of solids: Plan, elevation and views on
Unit I: sections of simple solids like prisms, pyramids, cones
and cylinders. True shape of sections, sections of
simple engineering structures.
Perspective views of simple objects: Single point

Unit II and two point methods as well as direct method.
Unit III Principle of Axenometric Views: Isometric views of

simple solids including sphere.
Interpenetration of solids: Drawing Interpenetration
Unit IV curves in the following cases- Intersections of Prism
with Prism- Prism with cylinders and cones, Prism
with Pyramid-cylinder and cone- intersection of solids
of revolution with plane surface.

Unit V Development of surfaces: Development of plane and
curved surfaces in combination with the sections of
solids and interpenetration of solids- Development of

transition pieces.
Nomograms: Basic principles of drawing nomograms for
Unit VI the following cases.
i)Nomograms for the equation with two variables such as X

+ Y = const.
ii)Nomograms to solve two straight line equations, To draw

addition and subtraction graphs
iii) Addition and subtraction graphs with logarithmic scale

for the type xy=k, and Drawing conversion scales.
