With Waveserver 5, Tx Compensation Mode is either Auto (default), or FIXEDTX or Search

• In Auto mode, always provision the line PTP “Path dispersion provisioned” parameter to the “Received Dispersion
Max” value provided by OnePlanner

Note: In Auto mode, if the provisioned path dispersion does not reflect the actual path dispersion, a significant link budget may be incurred. For
provisionable dispersion values, refer to Waveserver Guide – 323-3001-100.
Note: User can provision the full Tx CD range when in “fixed” mode.

Service Profiles: Client port usage
• Service Profiles
• Optimized to maintain predictable order for client traffic priority
• Different provisioning rules for different profile
• Traffic profile is applied at the line xcvr level, but it’s enforced to be the same across module.
• Will not dynamically re-arrange line bandwidth allocation for de-provisioned client ports
• Parity with Waveserver Ai
• Client provisioning is independent from line rate change
• Restrict potential traffic hits on client reconfigurations
• This release introduces 4 Service Profiles
• “100GE” – Homogeneous 100GE (no traffic impact)
• “400GE” – Homogeneous 400GE (no traffic impact – Lab Ready)
• “mixed-ethernet” – Mixed Ethernet (can cause traffic hits)
• “mixed-otn-ethernet” – Mixed OTL4.4 and 100GE (no traffic impact)
• Equipment profile can be edited when line xcvr is disabled and the existing provisioning is
valid in the new profile.

LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol)

• Support LLDP snooping only for Ethernet clients

• LLDP snooping provides information about the near-end and far-end client devices that exchange LLDP messages
transparently through the Waveserver
• LLDP snooping provides vital information about the type of equipment attached, the blade and port it is connected to
• LLDP is used in validating connections and determining last LLDP message exchanged when a link failure occurs

LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol)

Support LLDP snooping only for Ethernet clients (con’t)

• On the 100GE and 400GE client ports (Lab Ready), Waveserver 5 supports the mode of operation LLDP
snooping. You can manually enable or disable LLDP on each Waveserver 5 client port.
• Waveserver 5 uses client side far-end equipment discovery over IEEE802.1AB based LLDP protocol. The
feature supports monitoring and processing of those LLDP frames
• Waveserver 5 does not advertise itself on the client ports via transmitting LLDP frames and keeps tunneling
the LLDP
• Client Port LLDP Snooping provides:
• Client side snooping of client equipment LLDP frames
• Processing of TLVs defined in the standard
• Raw interpretation and display of organizationally specific TLVs
• LLDP Statistics
• LLDP SNMP MIB with trapping changes in the neighbor data
• REST APIs resembling the SNMP MIB for Essentials App and Client applications

Trail Trace Identifiers (TTI)
Overview
• The Trail-Trace Identifiers string is a part of the OTN overhead from modems that connect
Waveserver 5 nodes. Waveserver 5 supports multiple layers of TTI on both the line side port, the
line side channel, the OTL4.4 client ports.
• The MCP Topology Discovery feature will allow Blue Planet MCP to discover the topology and
components of a Waveserver 5 network through the Trail-Trace Identifier (TTI) strings of the
OTN overhead.
• The TTI string has three components:
• SAPI (Source Access Point Identifier; the source address)
• DAPI (Destination Access Point Identifier; the destination address)
• OPER (Operator specified)
• Each TTI component has three parts:
• Transmit string (tx) — the string you send to the far-end node.
• Receive string (rx) — the string you receive from the far-end node.
• Expected string (exp) — the string you expect to receive from the far-end node.
• TIM conditioning
• User can select consequent action (none, alarm-only, squelch-traffic)
• A mismatch mode that will trigger signal conditioning and squelch-traffic when TIM is activated

Trail Trace Identifiers (TTI)
Overview (con’t)
• TTI could be provisioned and monitored on the following layers:
• Line side port: port trace section = OTUCn SM (Section Monitoring) TTI
• Line side port: port trace path = ODUCn PM (Path Monitoring)TTI
• Line side channel: channel trace = ODUk PM TTI
• OTL4.4 client port: port trace section = OTUk SM TTI
• OTL4.4 client port: port trace path = ODUk PM TTI
• The following TTI provisioning could be done with at least admin access privileges:
• Assign values to TTI string components (SAPI, DAPI, and OPER) for a port section and path
• Assign values to TTI string components (SAPI, DAPI, and OPER) for a channel
• Set responses when a mismatch is detected between expected and actual TTI string values for the port path, port
section, and channel
• Clear values assigned to TTI string components (SAPI, DAPI, and OPER)
• Display current TTI values
• TTI provisioning/requests not supported on 100GE client ports
• TTI cannot be provisioned on
• ODU layer on OTU4 client port
• ODU layer on channel if associated with OTU4 client,
• ODU layer on LINE if line is in regen mode (ODUC is passthrough)

Integrated Test Set (ITS) support

Waveserver 5 supports Integrated Test Set (ITS)

• Parity to Waveserver Ai
• 100GE Ethernet clients only
• ITS can be enabled on multiple client ports on the same module simultaneously. Existing traffic on other
client ports is not affected.
• Race track mode only supported, in which only Gen_B and MON_A points apply.
• User manually sets up client Tx loopback or can set a physical fiber loopback
• A test report and an event log can be generated and exported during the test or once the test is done but
not exited. Note: Test report must be retrieved before the test is exited (patterns set to No Pattern).
• In Waveserver OS 2.0.0, ITS is subject to licensing (refer to CFN Volume 2 for more licensing information)
