 The peacock is the national bird of

Peacock India.

 It is a very colourful bird.

 Its wings are long and colourful.

 Peacock wings have moon like spots on


them.

 Peacocks can fly only for very short


distances.

 They have a long shining, dark, blue


neck.

 Peacocks likes the clouds very much.

 They dances when there is thunder in


the sky.

 The female peacock is called a peahen.


Crow
 Sparrows are small birds.

Sparrow  They have brown, black, grey


and white feathers.

 They have short tails; their


beaks are also short and strong.

 They eat seeds, insects, fruit,


and berries.

 They usually live-in flocks.

 They make their nests at safe


places in houses, buildings,
bushes, trees or under bridges.
Pigeon
 Pigeons are domestic birds.

  Pigeons are herbivorous in nature


and their diet includes seeds, fruits
and plants.

 Pigeons prefer to live in flocks

 Pigeon is bird which eventually


symbolize PEACE.

 It is the only bird which can easily go


up to miles and come back to the
same place. 
Parrot  The bird named 'parrot' is a
very attractive and beautiful
bird. They have feathers that
are green in color.

 here are about 390 species of


parrots.

  Parrots has a single beak that


are red in color and are curve
in structure.

They loves to eat Guava and
Chili.

 The most interesting character


in parrot is that they can talk
and can imitate the voice of
humans.
Hen / Cock  The hen is a domestic bird.

 Female – Hen, Male – Cock

 It can not fly long.

 The cock has a reddish crown on its


head.

 It lays one egg a day. These eggs are


a good source of proteins.

 People keep hens for eggs and meat.

 Baby hen is called as “chick”.

 The sound it makes is called as


“Clucking”.
Duck  The duck is a bird which
normally found in the place
where there is water like pond,
streams, lake, river etc.

 Ducks have shorter neck and


wings. They have stout body. 

 The sound of duck is called


quacking .

 The duck loves water and has


waterproof feathers. It has
webbed feet which are designed
for swimming.

 Baby duck is known as duckling.


 Crane is a tall wading bird.

 Crane are tall Birds with


long legs .

 They are
usually brown, white,
or gray in their color.

 They are omnivorous .

 Crane can swim in calm


water easily .
Flamingo  Flamingos are well-known for
their vibrant pink color and long
legs and neck.

 Flamingos are omnivores. This


means that they eat both plants
and animals. 

 There are six species of flamingo.


Two of species are found
in Africa, Europe and Asia.

 Bhigwan near Pune is a place


were we could see Migrated
Flamingo.
Woodpecker

 Woodpeckers are small birds with


very strong beaks.

 They use their beaks to hammer


into trees and get to the small
insects living inside.

 There are about 180 species, or


types, of woodpecker.

 Most woodpeckers live in forests,


spending their lives mainly in
trees.
Hummingbird  Hummingbirds are the smallest
birds in the world.

 They are extremely tiny birds


weighing, roughly two to twenty
grams.

 Even though they are the smallest


birds in the world, they have the
fastest wings beats of any other
bird. Hummingbirds beat their
wings over one thousand times a
minute.

 Nectar is not their only source of


food; they also eat mosquitoes,
flies, ants, small beetles, tiny wasps
and other small insects.
Owl  The owl is a bird of prey. It
has large eyes and a flat
face.

 It can turn its head as much


as 270 degree.

 It generally active at night.


It cannot see the tings close
to its eyes clearly.

 Baby owls are


called owlets.

 Most owls hunt insects,


small mammals and other
birds. Some owl species
hunt fish.
Eagle  Eagles are large, powerful birds
of prey.

 Eagles have large, hooked


beaks.

 Eagles have excellent eyesight.

 Eagles build their nests on high


cliffs or in tall trees.

 There are over 60 different


species of eagle.
Ostrich  An ostrich is a largest bird in
the world.

 It is mainly found in Africa.


Ostrich does have wings, but it
cannot fly, but they can run
very fast.

 Ostrich is famous for its speed


as it runs at the speed of 70
km per hour.

 It has long and skinny legs, a


long neck and a pointed beak
and has the largest eyes
among all the land animals.

 The height of an ostrich could


be up to 9 feet.
