Transactional Transformational Leadership

Transactional leadership is based on an exchange between the leader and group members, where the leader provides rewards in exchange for goal accomplishment. Transformational leadership appeals to followers' values and motivates change. It has three elements: inspiration through charisma, intellectual stimulation of new ideas, and individualized consideration of members. Transcendent leadership sees all people as connected regardless of differences and focuses on collective decision making through trust, transparency, and valuing diverse views.
