LESSON 7: DRAWING

IN PHOTOSHOP
DRAWING
•The main drawing
tools are located on
the Tools Palette: the
Pen Tool, Shapes
Tool, Path Selection
Tool.
•To expand the options
for a tool, hold the
mouse down on the
tool icon.
PEN TOOL
Pen tool is use to create
drawing paths. You can
create custom shapes and
complicated curves that
can be scaled easily.
Path Selection is a tool use to
select an existing drawing path
showing anchor points, direction
lines and points
You can also use it to move,
resize, copy, or delete paths.

Direct Selection tool is use


to reshape a path, or to delete a
component of a path.
Shape tool is use to create
paths with a certain shape. It
creates the same path points
that the Pen tool does. Each
shape can be modified with
the Path Selection tool.
BRUSH TOOL
• This tool allows you to create color in your image or
your raw image file.
• It also enables you to draw lines with color and
choose the thickness of the brush.
THREE KINDS:
1. AIR BRUSH – allows you to create an airbrush
effect to your brush.
2.PAINTBRUSH OVAL – creates a brush stroke that
is oval
3. TRANSPARENT RED SPRAY PAINT – gives you
a transparent stroke to your brush with red color.
PENCIL TOOL
• Gives you color strokes just like the
brush tool but the lines are thinner.
• This tool is ideal for small or thin
application of color to your image.
• You can select different kind of pencil
strokes by selecting from the brush drop
down menu (beside pencil button)
PAINT BUCKET TOOL

• It is used to apply and fill areas in your


image with color.
• It is good for replacing colors or by
changing the background of your image.
HOW THIS CAN BE DONE?
• Click the gradient tool and then select
the paint bucket tool.
CREATING SHAPES
• You can create shapes by selecting the
shapes tool on the Tools panel
• CUSTOM SHAPE TOOL – allows you
to select choices of custom shapes that
you can apply to your image.
• a wide variety of shapes can be seen
here that can be applied to your
GRADIENT
• Is a color that blends from one color to
another , this can be applied to your image to
for an effect or style.
• When Gradient tool is activated, you can now
draw a line wherein this line defines the
transition and the direction of the gradient.
• A long line produces gradual transition
HISTORY BRUSH TOOL
• Is a paint tool that can view your
previous state of image from the History
panel into the current image.
How to do it?
• Go to Menu bar, Click window and then
Click History
SELECTING A COLOR FOR
THE BRUSH TOOL
• There are lot of ways to select color for your brush
tool.
• First one is from TOOLs panel with two color boxes
namely:
• FOREGROUND BOX – the color for your tool
• BACKGROUND BOX – for your background color.
• Using the foreground box it will show you the
COLOR PICKER panel where you can select the
desired color of your brush.

Each of the expanded
options for Photoshop's
painting tools can be
accessed by holding
down the mouse on a
tool.
PAINTING
•Patch Tool
It retouches image using
sampled pixels or
pattern.
It works as a
combination of the
Healing Brush with the
Lasso Tool.
• Brush Tool
• When working with all of the
drawing tools (except the
Gradient tool),
•  Brush tool allows you to use
different brushes and textures.
• You can also load one (or several) of
Photoshop's included brush sets by
clicking on the black triangle at the
top right hand corner of
the Brushes menu.
Clone tool
Allows you to copy a part of an image
to another area of the image by
pressing and holding the key while
clicking on an image and then using the
tool in another area.
The Pattern Stamp tool is slightly
different in that you may paste the
copied image more than once.
History Tool
History tool allows you to combine
previous versions of your image with
the current version.
You can combine the two by selecting
the history state (from
the History palette) that includes the
old changes that you liked and using
the History tool to paint the past image
onto the current state.
Eraser Tool
The default Eraser tool replaces the erased
portion of the image with the current
background color.
When using the Background Eraser tool,
however, the erased portion simply
disappears.
The Magic Eraser tool behaves similar to
the Magic Wand tool in that it will select
similar shades of a certain color and erase
portions of the image with those colors and
erase them.
Gradient Tool
• This tool is a very simple way to paint a
gradient between colors into your image.
Radial, angle, reflected, and diamond
gradients are also available..
• The Pain Bucket Tool fills an area of an
image based on color similarity. Click
anywhere in the image and the paint bucket
will fill an area around the pixel you
clicked.
Blur, Sharpen, & Smudge Tool
• Blur Tool is the simplest way to
blur desired spot of an image.
• Sharpen Tool increases contrast
in the areas where you paint.
• Smudge Tool blends the pixels
where you paint simulating the
action of dragging a finger
through wet paint.
