CONTRIBUTION OF JANE

ADDAMS TO SOCIOLOGY
■ Jane Addams contributed greatly in sociology.
■ She showed women that they are not less than men and
inspired women all around the world.
■ Although being a female sociologist she had to face
many problems, she still had many achievements.

■ Jane had more than 100 female sociologist followers.
■ She brought attention to many sociological problems.
■ She researched on the main causes of crime and poverty.

■ Jane Addams stood for the rights and justice of African
Americans and immigrants.

Jane Addams worked in many reformed groups:


■ The first juvenile-court law.
■ Tenement-house regulation.
■ An hour work day for woman
■ Factory inspection
■ Worker compensation

■ She was the co-founder of “Hull House” in Chicago. Hull
House was a woman’s sociological institution.
■ She provided care, support and opportunities to the
underprivileged.
■ Addams took initiative to work against child labor.

the security and protection of the less fortunate.
■ She worked against WW1.
■ Addams was the president of “The Women’s International
League for Peace and Freedom”. The leagues main purpose
was to end war and maintain peace.
