SOLAR PANELS
 Among all the benefits of solar panels, the most important thing is that solar energy is truly
renewable resources. It can be harnessed in all areas of the world and is available every day.
We cannot run out of solar energy, unlike some of the other sources of energy.

 Solar energy will be accessible as long as we have the sun, therefore sunlight will be available to us
for at least 5 billion years when according to scientists the sun is going to die.

 Reduces Electricity Bills

• Since you will be meeting some of your energy needs with the electricity your solar system has
generated, your energy bills will drop. How much you save on your bill will be dependent on the
size of the solar system and your electricity or heat usage.
• Moreover, not only will you be saving on the electricity bill, but there is also a possibility to receive
payments for the surplus energy that you export back to the grid through the Smart Export
Guarantee (SEG). If you generate more electricity than you use (considering that your solar panel
system is connected to the grid).
• Solar energy can also be integrated into the materials used for buildings. Not long ago Sharp introduced
transparent solar energy windows

 LOW MAINTENANCE COST

• Solar energy systems generally don’t require a lot of maintenance. You only need to keep them relatively
clean, so cleaning them a couple of times per year will do the job. If in doubt, you can always rely on
specialised cleaning companies, which offer this service from around £25-£35.

• Most reliable solar panel manufacturers offer 20-25 years warranty.

• Also, as there are no moving parts, there is no wear and tear. The inverter is usually the only part that needs to
be changed after 5-10 years because it is continuously working to convert solar energy into electricity and heat
(solar PV vs. solar thermal). Apart from the inverter, the cables also need maintenance to ensure your solar
power system runs at maximum efficiency.

• So, after covering the initial cost of the solar system, you can expect very little spending on maintenance and
repair work.
 PROBLEM SUMMARY
Electricity is the most important renewable source of energy used by humans and the future generation also
depend upon the electricity flow that the flow of supply should be maintained as the use of electricity is increasing
the production of electricity from different natural resources had been started like electricity generation from
water Wind etc. But now generation of electricity is going on a larger scale from the natural source which is sun
with the use of solar panels the sunlight is been converted in to electricity. But as the solar panels are been used in
the residential places as well as the commercial places for the better use of the natural resources various problems
are been detected such as :

1. As the solar panels are been setup on the rooftop it mainly cover the whole roof area so there is no space been
left for other purposes and usually in night time when there is no way of generation of electricity the panels are
at that time also occupying the space
2. The solar panels which are been used for the electricity generation in the residential and commercial area are
usually fixed they cannot be moved and the panels to be setup are been mounted by seeing the angle of the
sunlight on the specific rooftop which leads to a lesser part of solar panels exposed to the sun light so the
efficiency of this kind of solar panel is lesser
 PROBLEM SPECIFICATION

1. The normal solar panels which are been installed on the rooftop usually cover
the whole area of the rooftop and other activities operation is not been possible
even at the night time ,cloudy or rainy weather even the electricity generation is
not possible the whole area of rooftop become useless.

2. As the tracking sensor is been used which is similar to the mechanism of the
sunflower as the sunflower moves in the direction of the sun our solar panels with
the use of tracking system will move in the direction of sun itself so the efficiency
can be increased in a greater percentage.
SUNFLOWER SOLAR ROOFTOP
 AIM AND OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

• Aim of our project is to generate a special kind of solar panels which contains a tracking system
as well as a sensor as we all know the solar panels which are been used widely in every residential
as well as commercial places are mainly fixedly mounted on the rooftop so its require the whole
space of the roof so not any activities can be carried out and many obstacles are been faced at
night time also when there is no chance of generation of solar energy so we will design a special
type of solar panel in which sensor and a tracking system will be installed so at night time or
cloudy weather the solar panels automatically be closed as well as the tracking sensor is been used
which is similar to the mechanism of the sunflower as the sunflower moves in the direction of the
sun our solar panels with the use of tracking system will move in the direction of sun itself.

• So the main objective of our project is to design this type of solar panel which use a lesser area of
the rooftop and which is more efficient as compared to the regular solar panels and can be
installed on every residential as well as commercial places so it can give a very efficient output to
the customer.
 BRIEF LITERATURE REVIEW

• We have gone through various research papers as well as international journals

also we have observed normal solar panels and worked on modification through
many related videos

 PLAN OF WORK

• First of all we thought about raw model than we have planned some strategy
according to the requirement of our project by gathering information through
videos and google research papers etc. Thereafter we have collected information
regarding rating and cost of various component required in our project . Then we
have made a paper prototype of our project which worked properly and thus we
proceed further for our actual project
• WE ARE GOING TO USE ARDUINO UNO MICROCONTROLLER AND THE SERVOMOTOR WILL BE UESD
TO ROTATE THE BASE.

• BATTERY WILL BE USED TO STORE THE ELCTRICAL ENERGY FROM THE SUN LIGHT

• THE CIRCLE WILL DIVIDE LIKE A PIE SO FOUR SOLAR PLATES WILL BE REQUIRE AND IT WILL
MOUNTED IN SUCH A WAY THAT DURING THE TIME WHEN NO LIGHT RAYS WILL BE THERE THE
PLATES WILL AUTOMATICALLY BEEN CLOSED

 ADVANTAGES
• SPACE ORIENTED
• HIGHLY EFFICIENT
• LESS MAINTENANCE COST
• VALUE FOR MONEY
• EASY TO OPERATE

 PROJECT FEATURE
• THIS SOLAR PANEL IS A SUN TRACKING SOLAR PANEL WHICH ROTATES ITSELF IN THE
DIRECTION OF THE SUN WITH THE HELP OF THE TRACKING SENSOR AND ITS WORK ON A
MICROCONTROLLER SO ITS MECCHANISM IS FULLY AUTOMATIC AND THUS THE EFFICIENCY OF
THIS TYPE OF SOLAR PANELS ARE HIGH.

• DURING THE NIGHT TIME OR AT THE CLOUDY OR MONSOON PERIOD WHEN THERE IS A LESSER
CHANCE FOR THE GENERATION OF THE ELECTRICITY THE SOLAR PLATES WILL BE CLOSDED
LIKE A SHELL SO ITS COVER THE SPACE WHEN REQUIRED.
 FUTURE SCOPE

• IN THE NEAR FUTURE THE SOLAR IS BECOMING THE MAJOR SOURCE OF POWER GENERTION
SO OUR PROJECT WILL BE VERY USEFUL AND ALSO THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT IS GIVING THE
SUBSIDY FOR THE SOLAR PANELS SO THE COMMON PEOPLE CAN ALSO INSTALL IT MAKE USE
OF THE NATURAL RESOURCE.

• AS ITS SPACE ORIENTED IT CAN BE EASILY INSTALLED ON THE ROOFTOP OF RESEDENTIAL

BUILDINGS AND COMMERCIAL PLACES OR AT THE PLACES AT WHICH A HEAVY ELECTRICITY
CONSUMPTION TAKE PLACE AND IT CAN BE A GREAT ALTERNATE FOR SUCH PLACES TO USE
THE NATURAL RESOURCES FOR THEIR BETTERMENT INSTEAD OF USING SUPPLIED
ELECTRICITY AND PAY HEAVY BILLS.

• ONE CAN ALSO STORE ELECTRICITY AND RESELL IT TO THE ELECTRICTY COMAPANIES AND
EARN MONEY BY JUST INSTALLING THE SOLAR PANELS ON THEIR ROOF TO AND SELL A
SPECIFIC UNIT OF ELECTRICITY GENERATED BY IT AND USE THE REMAINING.
