    Robert Capa was a famous war photographer born in 1913 in Austria-Hungary under the name Endre Ernő Friedmann. He was forced to leave Hungary in 1931 after being arrested by the secret police. He moved to Berlin and Paris to study journalism but faced persecution as a Jew. He changed his name to Robert Capa and found success photographing the Spanish Civil War and D-Day. Some of his D-Day photos were accidentally destroyed during development but a few survived. Capa dedicated his life to documenting the horrors of war through photography before dying in 1954 while covering the Indochina War in Vietnam.

    Robert Capa
    Born October 22, 1913 named Endre Ernő
    Friedmann in Budapest, Austria-Hungary.

    1931 at the age of 18 he was arrested by the


    Hungarian secret police and force to leave the
    country.

    He Moved to berlin to study journalism but was


    not allowed to because he was Jewish.

    1933 moved to France to avoid persecution


    and changed his name to Robert Capa to
    sound more american
    His first famous
    photograph was of Leon
    Trotsky during the
    'Meaning of the Russian
    Revolution' speech in
    Copenhagen in 1932.
    1936-1939

    He covered the
    Spanish civil war
    and shot the
    famous photo
    “Falling soldier”
    1938
    Went to
    Hankow China
    to photograph
    the Japanese
    invasion

    Pictured here is
    a 15 year old
    soldier during
    the conflict
    1938
    Moved to NYC
    and worked for
    “Life Magazine”
    and “Colliers
    Weekly”

    Capa's shot of a victorious


    Yank graced the May 14,
    1945 cover of LIFE.
    D-Day
    June 6, 1944

    Took several
    rolls of
    photographs
    but all of the
    images were
    destroyed
    during
    development.

    Somehow 11
    magically
    survived.

    Robert Capa Died on may 25th 1954, after leading a life dedicated to informing
    others about the horrors of war.
