Introduction to CEGIS
Company’s Background
Established on May 16, 2002 as a public trust.
Environmental and Geographic Information System (EGIS) in 1996 and EGIS-2 in 1997, both supported by
the Government of Bangladesh
The center is under Ministry of Water Resources.
Developed Community-based Flood Information System
Part of Australian funded Bangladesh integrated water resources assessment project since 2011

Divisions of CEGIS
• Water Resources Management Division
- Conducts water resources assessment and planning at macro and micro levels for IWRM.
- Deals with application of RS-GIS based planning tools, hydrological modeling and techniques for environmental management
of natural resources.
- Carries out water supply, WASH and WATSAN related activities.
- Applies geospatial technology in diversified fields including natural resource management, environment,
climate, hydrologic and hydrodynamic modeling and so on.
- Provides services for development, integration and analysis of geospatial database, development of DEM,
desktop/web based geospatial applications, web-based LIS and other web GISs.
- Conducts various digital surveys including RTK, Total Station and DGPS Survey as well as provides customized
GIS training for the clients.
• Remote Sensing Division
- Produces land cover and land use data, natural resources mapping, change detection mapping, erosion-accretion
mapping, flood inundation mapping, agricultural crop mapping, environmental impact assessment mapping
- Clutter data for wireless telecommunication network planning using state-of-the-art technologies currently
achieved in the remote sensing field.
- Offers basic and advance training on optical and radar satellite image processing and applications using Eras
Imagine and Google Earth Engine.
