MYP5 Deductive Geometry (Sheet 3)

This document summarizes key concepts from a chapter on deductive geometry. It includes inquiry questions about geometric forms, volume, and surface area. Examples are provided to illustrate circle theorems like the alternate segment theorem applied to cyclic quadrilaterals. Readers are asked to draw diagrams of geometric shapes and determine if they satisfy certain properties. The chapter aims to help readers generalize relationships between geometric measurements through problem solving exercises.

Inquiry Questions:-
Factual—
What is form?
What is volume?
What is surface area?
Conceptual—
How are surface area and volume related?
How do we generalize relationships between measurements?
Debatable—
What makes for an ingenious solution?

Exercise 19 (Circle theorems)

A non rectangular parallelogram can be drawn as follows

For the case of non-rectangular parallelogram, add up opposite angles is not equal to 180
The a circle cannot be drawn through the vertices of a non-rectangular parallelogram.
So, we can say a non-rectangular parallelogram is not a cyclic quadrilateral.

Since BX bisect the angle B, therefore point X bisect the line AC
Similarly CY bisect the angle C, therefore point Y bisect the line AB
Therefore, BY = CX
