Early Beginning of Medical Technology

460 BC. Hippocrates – father of medicine


– Formulated the Hippocratic Oath, the code of
ethics for practicing physicians

Hippocrates advocated a diagnostic protocol that


included tasting the patient’s urine.

Oldest known test on body fluids was done on urine by ancient


physicians before 400 BC.

Urinalysis – oldest laboratory procedures today
