It is necessary to make the first official issue of the piping general

arrangements to be “ISSUED FOR CONSTRUCTION" to ensure
maximum man-hour economy and accuracy in addition to issuing
an internal issue at 60% for work flow enhancement, unless
otherwise defined in the project requirements (Project Scope and
Procedure) or requested by the client to issue earlier revisions,
when this occurs, it is necessary to place a “HOLD” around the
related areas and mention in the list of “HOLDS” at the right
hand information column of the border. All such holds shall be
.clearly marked and the reason for the hold shall be fully defined

Piping general arrangements shall be drawn on "D" size sheets

(864mmX 560mm). Drawings may consist of several views (especially
in pipe racks plans). Views are normally produced with horizontal
orientation, but where requirement for a rotated view exists; ensure
that the rotation is 90 Degree counter-clockwise with the sheet aligned
.with the title block in the lower right hand corner of the border
IV.4 Piping General Arrangements
IV. Main Pipiing Equipment/ Eng.Documentation
(GA’s)

Title Block
Full title block details shall be filled prior to starting the drawing. In
particular, the title, drawing number and scale shall be indicated. A four-line
title is standard:

PLANT NAME
UNIT NUMBER - AREA NUMBER
PLAN FROM GRADE TO EL. ------
PIPING GENERAL ARRANGEMENT

In case of producing piping sections in another drawing sheet, the title block
shall be as follows:
PLANT NAME
UNIT NUMBER - AREA NUMBER
PLAN FROM GRADE TO EL. ------
PIPING SECTION
IV.4 Piping General Arrangements
IV. Main Pipiing Equipment/ Eng.Documentation
(GA’s)

Piping general arrangements shall be cut at specific elevations and

which shall be indicated in the title block. For example:

 PLAN AT GRADE
PLAN FROM GRADE TO EL 105600
PLAN FROM EL 105600 TO EL 110600
PLAN ABOVE 110600

In cases where piping is heavily concentrated, the depth of the

piping general arrangements shall be maintained at a satisfactory
maximum to avoid over complicated drawings.

Scale

Normal scale for piping plans is 1:33 1/3 metric (3/8": 1' - 0"
imperial) . If it is necessary to show piping in detail, scales 1:10, 1:20
and 1:25 may be selected for individual items. Where piping runs are
extensive e.g. off plots and storage areas, scales of 1:50 or 1: 100 shall
be utilized, with details of pumping stations tie-ins etc. enlarged to
1:33 1/3 where greater clarity is necessary. All dimensions not drawn
to scale shall be marked N.T.S. accordingly.
Scale shall be mentioned in the title block in addition to a
corresponding scale ruler shown in the drawing.

Match Lines

Match lines identify the limits of the total area to be drawn as indicated
on the unit piping plans index. External boundaries identified on
drawings as "Match lines", indicate that the drawn area has matching
area(s) with corresponding match line(s) so continuation-drawing
reference shall be mentioned. External boundaries identified on
drawings as "Area Limits" establish the outer boundary of an area and
in turn the units without a corresponding match line.
Drawing limits must be indicated utilizing North/South and East/West
coordinates as follows:

“MATCH LINE E. ------ FOR CONTINUATION SEE DWG. ------“

Or “AREA LIMIT N. ------“
Add picture for match line

True and Plant North Arrows

Both true and plant north arrows shall be indicated in addition to

prevailing Wind Direction. Plant north arrows shall be shown pointing
upwards. Only in exceptional circumstances will plant north arrows be
shown pointing left or right. This shall be decided by PLE. Plant north
arrows shall never point downwards.

Add photo for the north

Cross Sections and Elevations

Sections and elevations shall only be produced when piping details cannot
be adequately shown on the plan as in the case of pipe racks and multi-
levels structures. Where possible, such detail should be shown using an
elevation view outside the limits of the match line or another drawing
sheet. If it is necessary to draw sections they shall be titled:
 SECTION A-A
When elevation details are drawn, they shall be titled:
 DETAIL A
IV.4 Piping General Arrangements
IV. Main Pipiing Equipment/ Eng.Documentation
(GA’s)

Corresponding arrows (for sections) and letters shall be indicated at the

point of section or detail on the main view. If sections and details are
drawn on a separate drawing, then that drawing number shall be
indicated at the section or detail on the piping general arrangement
drawing. In order to conserve man-hours, sections and details shall be
maintained at a minimum. Ensure that dimensions are not repeated
between the piping general arrangement drawing and the sections or
details. FULL SECTIONAL DRAWINGS SHALL BE AVOIDED
UNLESS NECESSARY.

Key Plan

All general arrangements drawings shall carry a key plan indicating

the area covered. Key plan is placed at the right hand information
column of the border indicating the position of the covered area
(hatched) relative to the boundary areas in the plant (unit). Key plan
does not show detailed plant (unit) features except Plant North
direction and generated from the Piping Plans Index with small scale
to fit the right hand information column of the border.

Drawing Content

Piping general arrangements shall contain all information to

facilitate checking process and construction activities. Similar
drawing contents shall be identically shown on all general
arrangements. Drawings shall carry all essential information, not
necessarily restricted to the following:

piping cross sections, elevations are indicated to the center line
elevation of pipe (CL EL.). On pipe rack drawings, indicated
elevations are to the bottom of pipe only. For sloping lines, indicated
elevations are at piping component origin as centreline elevation of
the pipe defined as working point elevation (W.P. EL.) on plan and
BOP on cross sections and pipe racks.
