Ch 1 : Introduction

Project Background- Nagpur is centre of India and it connects to various parts of


India. It is one of those rapidly growing cities of Maharashtra. This is spot of
Buddhist Religion.

Main Objectives of the project is to achieve following :


1. To develop the bus terminal with all the necessary facilities for the passengers.
2. To provide more convenient and easy transfer
3. To explore and generate revenues from non fair box sources
Detail of City
1. Major connectivity and linkage (Road Connectivity)
 Bus from there go to all over the states as well as near neighbouring states like Madhya Pradesh etc.
 Nagpur is the major road junction, since India two major National Highway NH7, NH6 passthrough the city.

2. Air Connectivity
 Dr. BR Ambedkar Airport which is 6km away from the Bus Terminal.
 3. Rail connectivity
 Connected to the major cities by daily express and passengers train

CH 3: DATA COLLECTION AND METHODOLOGY

Task 1: Analysis
 Looking toward the last 10 years of timetable of bus –
 Yearly Growth of passengers-
Primary Survey:
 Counting of Passengers at the entry and exit of bus terminal.
 Number of buses at entry and exit of bus stand.(24 hr daily record)
Parking Survey:
 On daily basis of 24 hrs
 Infrastructural Assessment
 Sitting, kiosks, vending machine and parking
 Operational Facilities : Bus bays, Bus lance, entry exit and circulation pattern

Number of entry and exits (one way or two way) Active Ideal
 Depend on the road capacity
 Number of buses entering in the peak hours
Boarding of bus Only for parking of buses
Bus Count & Origin Destination Survey
• On average daily 60 buses are observed to enter and exit in one day.
• Some of them are: intercity and some are interstate

Key Points

 On average mostly 3% of commuters spent more than one hour on bus terminal. Bus Bay
requirements depend on dwell time and number of buses.
 Presence of green building should be there.
 Parking should be 30% of the total built area (silent for transportation)
