Thermal protection by PTC sensors

● Temperature digital display

● Fans on/off, alarm, trip
● Dual protection by PT100 and PTC
● Communication port (RS485/RS232/0-5V/4-20mA)

The temperature is monitored and displayed by a digital thermometer. The 3 sensors, each
comprising one white and two red wires, are located in tubes between the magnetic core and the LV
winding, on each phase. So they can be withdrawn and replaced as and when necessary.

Temperature Control Unit
Setting

Note
- When setting value, auto-ensure break temperature > alarm exceed temperature > start up fan
temperature > stop fan temperature
- If user set temperature value, ensure the value no greater than the maximum temperature: alarm
temperature is 130, break temperature is 150. Otherwise, the user will be responded to
transformer's destruction led by wrong setting maximum temperature.
Software connection
Commissioning

 Measure the DC resistance of all tap of winding.

 Check earthing continuity of transformer's case and core.

 Measure insulating resistance of winding, generally (temperature: 20~30, humidity90%)

 Test of insulating resistance of core, generally, (temperature: 20~30, humidity 90%)

 Check looseness of the tightening fixing components, connectors, and tighten them
again. After connecting the active components of transformer, the minimum clearance
between HV/LV cable, LV copper row and the surface of HV winding must be no less
than 120mm.
 Connections of HV connectors, connections tightening torque on the HV terminal and the
tapping link bars (brass fixing with flat washers and contact):

 Connections of LV connectors, connections tightening torque for the LV bars (steel

fixings):

 Check correct reinstallation of the components removed when transporting, and check
foreign bodies on the transformer, remove overabundant dust according to regulation.

 Make sure supply voltage no more than rating voltage

 Connect protect circuit to monitor system, check effective earthing.
 Fix firmly HV cables and LV cables to avoid moving.

 Clean the transformer periodically, especially those installed in dirty condition (contain oil and
conductive granule).

 Check the correct position of tap according to the rating plate and tap signal plate.

 According to instruction for temperature control cabinet and temperature display of

transformer, after debugging temperature control and temperature display to propriety,
operate transformer firstly, where after, operate temperature control and temperature display
devices.

 Transformer should trigger to run without load, the maximum value of trigger surge current
can reach 8-10 times of rating current, the setting value of speed-protect current should be
more than peak value of trigger surge current.

 After transformer is running normal, it can stop and run again without taking other measure.
Maintenance
 Check and maintain the transformer periodically to ensure its correct commissioning.

 Generally, in the case of dry and clean environmental condition, check once a year or
longer time; in the case of other environment, such as the condition dust or air
contaminated by chemistry smog may enter, check once every 3-6 months.

 In the case of too much dust deposits, must remove them, to ensure air circulating and
avoid striking insulation, especially, clean transformer's insulators, underlay, etc.
Moreover, blow dust in ventilation pipe cleanly with dry compressed air (2-5 atmosphere
pressure).
 Check looseness of tight firmware and connectors, rust and erosion on conductive
accessories, creeping and carbonation on the surface of insulation. If necessary, take
relative measure to deal.
 In the case of transformer commissioning for years (recommend 5 years), determine
continuity of transformer's commissioning by test of insulation resistances, ratio and
winding resistances.
Safety

 Before accomplishing installation and commissioning, as to transformer without enclosure,

place barrier for isolation around it to avoid sudden accident.

 After transformer commissioning, no touch the bodies of transformer in case of

accidents.

 Test, installation and maintenance of transformer must be done by qualified professionals.
