Orifice
• We will set the GLVs to open at specific pressures
Orifice
• First, we will pump gas down the annulus at 500psi. The completion
fluid will drain through the GLV. The fluid travels up through the tubing
until it reaches surface. When the gas finally reaches the port of the
GLV, you will get gas returns at the surface.
500psi Gas
Orifice
• When that happens, the pressure of gas pumping in to string reduces to
300psi. That way, the top GLV will close but the bottom GLV is still
open. Fluid will drain through the GLV set at 200psi
300psi Gas
Completion fluid
Orifice
• When the gas reaches the lower GLV, the pressure in the
string reduces to 100psi. That way we close the lower GLV.
Now, fluid will drain through the orifice.
100psi Gas
Orifice
Completion fluid
• With the 2 GLVs closed, gas will only enter the tubing string
through the orifice. That is the only SPM working during
production.

About the Dummy
The GLV and orifice can be retrieved through the tubing using Slick line.
Sometimes, we put a dummy in the SPM as a back up. It serves no
purpose, except to prevent communication in between the tubing and
annulus.
