    1) The past continuous tense, also called the past progressive tense, is used to describe an action that was in progress at a specific time in the past. 2) Non-action verbs are not usually used in the progressive form, with the exception of "have" when used to mean eat or drink. 3) The past continuous tense can be used with the simple past tense to describe an action that was interrupted by another action that occurred in the past.
