 There is no cure for most work-related lung diseases.
 Treatments are aimed at:
1. Preventing further exposure
2. Preventing more lung scarring
3. Managing symptoms

Recommendations:
 Quit smoking
 ear protective masks when around airborne dusts and irritants
 PFT
 Eat a well-balanced diet, exercise regularly and get plenty of sleep
 Oxygen therapy when needed
Asbestosis
Bronchodilators
Aspirin
Guaifenesin thin secretions
Antibiotics – to reduce the risk for infection
Corticosteroids not effective

Silicosis: Skin tests to check for exposure to TB should be done


regularly. Those with a positive skin test should be treated with anti-
TB drugs. Any change in the appearance of the chest x-ray may be a
sign of TB.
