Here’s what you’ll find in this session :
III
You need a STRONG manuscript to present your contributions
to the scientific community
A Strong Manuscript I II
Good Content Good Presentation
• Novel, Useful, and Exciting Clearly presented and logically constructed
III
Reviewers and editors are able to grasp the
scientific significance easily
Gather Critical Information
Save your editor and reviewers the trouble of guessing what you mean
Language
1. Write direct and short sentences – more professional looking
2. One idea or piece of information per sentence is sufficient
3. Avoid multiple statements in one sentence – they are confusing to the reader.
Similarly there are research studies which have ascertained the impact of service quality on organizational
performance (Jain and Gupta, 2004; Getty & Getty, 2000) but there is a significant lack of internal service quality
perspective in existing research, most of the existing studies evaluate the perception of external customer, and the
research reported here studies internal service quality and internal marketing as an attempt to understand their
impact on organizational performance.
The communication is good. Text corrections are needed to eliminate typing errors and reformulate some
paragraphs which are hard to read. For example, see the text at page 9:
"KM can act as an antecedent of (knowledge) worker satisfaction. The arguments are as follows; (Kianto et al.,
2016; Shujahat et al., 2018; Sahibzada, Cai, Latif, & Sahibzada, 2020). KWS gets a practical instigation from KM,
the arguments are as follows; (Kianto et al., 2016; Shujahat et al.,2018; Sahibzada, Cai, Latif, & Sahibzada,
2020)."
Structure of a Research Article
1. Title
2. Abstract
3. Introduction
4. Literature Review
5. Research Methodology
6. Data Analysis and Results
7. Discussion
8. Conclusion
9. Limitations
10. Future Research Directions
11. Implications
12. References
Title and Abstract
1. A good title should contain the fewest possible words that adequately describe the contents of a paper.
2. Articles with short, catchy titles are better cited
An Abstract Tell readers what you did and the important findings
3. Advertisement for your article
4. One paragraph (50-250 words) often
5. Be accurate and specific
6. A clear abstract will strongly influence if your work is considered further
Writing the Introduction
1. Value of your topic in general
2. Value of your topic in your field/Area, why is there a need to study the
concept?
3. Existing research on your variables, what relationships have been studied
4. Limitations/Gaps/Future Research directions on your topic based on
previous studies on the variables, MUST be LATEST past 1 year
5. The Theoretical Lens
6. Contribution of your study to the body of knowledge
7. Proposed structure of your thesis
Independent/Individual Discussion on Variables
1. The concept of the variable
2. Is there any conceptualization of the variable in the area of your study (for Instance Higher
Education)
3. What does the variable do for the organizations – How it facilitates their working (Discuss in
general and also in particular to your industry scope)
4. Why studying the concept is important in your field of study? Discuss the general
consequences (If it’s a predictor variable) – If it is a criterion, why studying the antecedents is
important in your field of study.
5. What conceptualization/operational definition are you using in your study? Does
conceptualization reflect in instrument/measurement. Why use a conceptualization, is it very
close to your area of study?
How to write when developing framework to establish relationships
● Has previous studies linked the two concepts? If yes what were their findings
● Are the variables in any way linked to each other?
● Were the findings of the previous studies unanimous? On the other hand, contradictory?
● Why studying the linkage between variables is significant/Important
● Why studying the linkage between variables is significant in your area/field of study
● How the independent variable affects/influences/impacts the dependent variable
● Do the dimensions/traits of independent variable link to the dependent variable
● Use theory to develop linkages
Research Methodology
1. Population
2. Sample (Sample Size & Sampling Technique)
3. How and when the questionnaire was distributed?
4. Questionnaire sources (Primary Data) with sample items/Data Sources (Secondary Data)
5. Data Collection Techniques
6. Analysis Techniques
7. Regression Model in case of Research in the Area of Finance/Economics
Data Analysis and Results
1. Descriptive Statistics
2. Reliability, Convergent and Discriminant Validity (for Questionnaire/Survey Based Study)
3. Hypotheses Testing
4. Hypotheses Summary
Discussion
