INTRODUCTION ON SHEAR WALL
Shear wall resists the lateral loads like earthquake load, wind load.

CONCLUSIONS
• The dynamic response parameters such as maximum storey displacement,
maximum storey drift, and time period have been reduced considerably by 62%,
58%, and 60% in a building with shear wall located at core compared to that of a
building without shear wall.
• The dynamic response parameters such as base shear have been increased
significantly by 252% in a building with shear wall located at core compared to that
of a building without shear wall.
• Building provided with shear wall located at core shows a better performance
compared to that of buildings with shear walls located at corner and mid frame.
• Center core shear wall is best suited for resisting the seismic loads.
